Metics is a fintech company on a mission: to revolutionise financial planning and decision making. They help businesses, entrepreneurs and finance professionals with user-friendly scenario planning software. We built the platform, from 2020 through to its completion in 2025.
LOREM second intro paragraph. The two-column intro is built for roughly a hundred and forty words together, so a second paragraph of about seventy words belongs here: what the collaboration grew into, and what changed along the way. This text still has to be written.

The challenge
In many companies, financial planning lives in a jungle of spreadsheets: manual input, formulas that differ just slightly per row, assumptions nobody can trace back. Research shows that nearly 90% of spreadsheets contain errors - and a single flawed formula or misplaced decimal can distort an entire forecast. The lack of version control makes it worse: who changed what, when, and why? And as the business grows, the spreadsheets do not grow with it: they slow down, crash on large datasets, and merging data sources becomes an error-prone chore. Can we build a platform that reduces errors, saves time and gives clear insight into financial models? That was the question Metics brought to us.

Our approach
Together with the Metics team we built a web application for balance sheet and P&L forecasting and scenario planning. We modelled the core logic in close collaboration with financial experts - robust enough for CFOs, clear enough for founders and managers. The key components:
- An interface that feels familiar to Excel users, but is far less error-prone
- Dynamic balance sheet and P&L models that recalculate in real time on every change
- Multi-year forecasting, with scenarios side by side
- Smart logic that understands how metrics interact - no formulas required
- Easy collaboration and plan sharing with teams and advisors
- Everything securely in the cloud, with full version control and a trail of every change
For five years we developed the platform onwards, from the first version in 2020 to a mature product. Along the way the calculation engine grew with increasingly complex models: consolidation across entities, indexations and what-if scenarios that had simply become unmaintainable in spreadsheets.

The result
A platform where financial plans live in one place, can be shared with teams and advisors, and where every change can be traced. Planning becomes what it was meant to be: looking ahead, not auditing formulas. In 2025 we completed development and handed over a stable, mature product - Metics stands on its own feet and is live at metics.io.

Balance sheet, forecasts and scenarios now live in one place - traceable, shareable and without manual formulas.
